What Chanel was to France, many could say McCardell was to women's sportswear in America. Her mark certainly is a clear one. All together flattering, feminine but able to move with an American woman's ambitions; whether she chose to be a busy homemaker, a busy business woman or an outdoor person, McCardell's clothes could fit many moulds.

This dress is an example of the fluid transformative power of an open, flexible shift dress. Here, we can add a belt to cinch and outline that 50's silhouette. Left open, this dress is fun and drapes beautifully. The tailoring is immaculate and simple- we love the mid sleeve paired with the rounded neck. Belt not included.
